Visit from Holland

Chris and Orsi came for the weekend and visit us. They arrived on friday, just after lunch, so I had the day off and picked them up at the airport.

We hadn’t seen Chris in, I think, more than 2 years. We were supposed to go visit him when Chiquita got pregnant but since she was so sick in the beginning we had to cancel.

On friday, which for some strange reason had really good weather, we just took a stroll up Linnégatan, back to Haga and then around back to Järntorget and Andra Långgatan via Feskekyrkan. In the evening we went for after work at La Sombrita. We finished off the night by me live translating our film of our Australian vacation (as a bonus I even translated the English speaking parts). 🙂

Saturday was proper Gothenburgian weather, meaning rain and windy and grey, so we went to Nordstan and then walked to Gothia Towers to have the shrimp sandwich, lovely!

Mattias and Sofia joined us for dinner and I made the typically Swedish 80’s dish, Flygande Jakob. They seemed to enjoy it.

I drove them to airport just after 10 am today.

We really liked having Chris and Orsi around because they are super nice and we hope to seem them again soon. Either here in Sweden or, hopefully someday, in The Netherlands.Noemi also liked them very much and enjoyed all the attention she got. It was a lovely weekend!

New camera, Canon EOS 450D

We haven’t yet fully got the hang of our new camera and are still taking all the photos with the automatic setting, making it work exactly the same as our Ixus. Eventually we will learn more about it and Chiquita has borrowed books from the library which she will read and learn.

Here are some samples from us testing the new camera.

Last photos with old camera?

We have bought a new camera and and even though it’s an SLR camera (not a compact) we will probably use it all the time as it takes much better photos. But old reliable Ixus will not be discarded entirely, since it is very compact and fits easily in the bag. But, still … most photos from here on are taken with our new Canon EOS 450D (which I bought used from a work mate).

Big fish, little fish swimming in the water

Today was the first day of our 7 week baby swim lessons with Noemi. Every Sunday at 13.00 we go on a baby swim course with Noemi to teach her about water and to have lots of fun. We have had her with us in the bathtub before so she’s already a customed to water but I it is another thing entirely in a pool, with lots of other people and not being able to touch the bottom. But, she seemed to enjoy it whole heartedly.

This first time was a little shorter just to get the children used to the new environment as well as us parents to get the hang off the different techniques of holding our baby in the water, as well as learning some of the songs we will sing during the course. There will be lots of singing and playing mixed with learning about water.

Noemi was really tired afterwards and slept from around 2 till after 6, which she never does otherwise. The picture of me and Noemi with clothes on is after her monster sleep and she was all cuddly and cozy. Now she is the happiest little girl with lots and lots of energy – playing with the baby gym, which she loves, and all of her toys.

Sundays seem to become rather wonderful days!
