On the 29th of December Emma, Amanda and Erin came to visit for 6 nights. Emma and Amanda are currently spending a year working in England and Erin is spending a year in Germany but they are all originally from Australia. Emma has talked about visiting me ever since we met ten years ago when living in New York. So, finally came the day when she made it here in the good company of her sister Amanda and their friend Erin. It’s a difficult time of year to show Gothenburg’s best side… but our aussies luckliy found the snow and ice “exotic” and enjoyed all the activities we got up to. We started their visit of by ice-skating at Heden. We were all terrified (I haven’t been in 15 years, Erin only once before and Emma and Amanda not ever) but we all managed close to an hours ice-skating without breaking any limbs and having quite a few laughs whilst at it. Other places we visited/activities we did was dinner at Mañana, drinks at the Australian pub dancing Dingo, seeing the moose at Slottskogen, sunset over a frozen sea at Saltholmen (spectacular views!!), scrimp sandwich at Gothia towers, shopping at Nordstan and Frölunda torg, Universeum, lunch at my parents, Gothenburg City museum and lunch at Kronhusbodarna. The girls also went by themselves to see an ice-hockey match whilst I was working on the Sunday. On New Years Eve I showed our guests Slottskogen in the day whilst Peter was preparing dinner. At five we all went down to the harbor to see the fire-works and after that we ate the three course dinner that Peter had prepared beautifully. We wanted to serve our guests something they had never had before and went for the moose for the main course. After dinner a few of Peters friends came over to join us and to celebrate the strike of midnight and the New Year. We were sad to see our guest go but are hoping they’ll come back in the Summertime so we can show them what Gothenburg is like when not entirely covered by snow and ice!

Christmas Day

Christmas Day was according to tradition spent at my parents house. Very cozy, especially since they’ve just installed a fireplace in the living room. However, Noemi developed a bit of a fever during the evening, so she wasn’t quite her energetic self. She actually by own will sat still in the sofa with Opehelia and watched a little tv. Since she wasn’t feeling entirely well we made it an early evening.

We celebrated a cozy Christmas Eve together with Sylvia, Ing-Maj and Dominque. Noemi really enjoyed her Christmas gifts and had no problem removing the wrapping paper at all. Last year she was a little skeptical of Santa but this year he got both a kiss and a hug haha!! Merry Christmas to everyone with love from The Löfman’s!!

New York, New York

New York is a hustling and bustling city! There’s obviously lots to do and see. And to think you can even cover a fraction of all you should when visiting it for such a short time as I do would be ridiculous. So, instead of running around like a pack of wild dogs we’ve been taking it rather easy and simply walked around and done things as they came along.

I’ve had a wonderful time and the conference was also really good.

I wonder what our nights gonna be like now

We have removed one side of Noemi’s bed today. She started to climb out of bed this week so instead of risking her hurting herself while climbing over the side we decided to remove the side entirely.

I wonder what effect this will have on our nights? This will surely affect our bedtime procedure as well as what happens if she wakes up at night.

This morning she climbed over the side and played in her room by herself for quite some time before coming in to our room.
